Tucked away discreetly in Montecito’s spectacular Rosewood Miramar Beach resort hotel one will find the Revere Room where California seasonal homestyle cuisine is served in a casual setting. Named for one of Southern California’s most prolific architects known for his timeless, classic designs, the Revere Room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is friendly, affordable and a perfect place to eat well in a setting of immense charm.

We sat on the patio (there is also pretty indoor seating if the weather disappoints) cooled by ocean breezes and ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from an excellent list. We must admit, the signature cocktails were novel and tempting but a Fruit Negroni or a Foraged Chile Margarita will have to wait until next time.

We started with a salad. The Revere Room offers five of them from a veggie chop to a steak salad, each with special clever touches like candied pistachio, pea tendrils, and cara cara oranges.
Eschewing but appreciating the burgers, truffled chicken sandwich and Reuben, we attacked the main offerings. We had a tough time choosing: should it be a Buddha Bowl with crispy tofu, buckwheat groats, avocado, sprouted legumes and cabbage in a tomato-galangal brodo? Or spring pasta primavera with green garlic pesto? Fish tacos with chipotle crema, crispy King salmon with fennel and preserved lemon, or Rocky Canyon chicken with spinach, peas, fennel and something called salmoriglio (a southern Italian condiment made of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, salt, and herbs). It all sounded appealing, creative and delicious. We went with the crispy salmon and the chicken.

And delicious it was. Our chicken was tender and moist, The salmon perfectly cooked. The kitchen is not only innovative but they cook well with confident competence.
Out lunch ended with a delightful carrot cake, four decadent layers of yummy, carroty goodness, topped with a sweet frosting and a yellow pansy.

Service was genuinely friendly and the place was filled with happy families and couples dreamily gazing into each others eyes while the staff briskly moved about with trays of very photogenic, original and tasty cuisine. The Revere Room celebrates the best of the American Riviera highlighting local-first ingredients from nearby farms and purveyors. A truly sustainable concept ensures the freshest of flavors, made even better by the unparalleled views of Miramar Beach. 1759 S Jameson Lane, Montecito,(805) 900-8388; rosewoodhotels.com
