Lucky us. We have just received the ultimate kitchen wok from Smithey, the much-admired Charleston-based craftsmen of premium cast iron and carbon steel cookware and it is a work of art.

There is nothing ordinary about this beauty: Smithey uses cast iron sourced and poured in the USA…their skillets and pans are poured and cast from molten iron, with a lovely polished interior surface, slightly heavier in weight for maximum heat retention.

Our smooth-to-the-touch wok is made from US-sourced hand-forged carbon steel. It was hand-forged by blacksmiths, lighter in weight, unique in design (no two pieces are the same). Like Smithy’s cast iron, it is compatible with all cooktops, ovens, and grills, even over fire. We use it to roast and sear and it performs like a champ.
And the finish is easy to clean and maintain. Both cast iron and carbon steel need to be thoroughly dry between uses and seasoned with a light sheen of oil as needed. That’s why any Smithey product is perfect to display and will enhance any kitchen decor. It is not something to be hidden away in a closet.

Each piece of Smithey’s farmhouse collection is individually hand-forged and visually unique, while sharing core design features tuned to the Smithey style. Founder Isaac Morton, a blacksmith, studied collector’s books and restored many a rusty old skillets to their 19th-century glory before the prospect of creating a something new piqued his curiosity. Building and sharing a cast iron cookware line that honored the classic style of vintage pieces, but also harnessed modern technology and processes, simply felt like a good idea. And from that idea – that a lost art might be restored into a modern icon – Smithey Ironware was born. The resulting cookware is as beautiful as it is functional. Smithey proudly stands by their products with a lifetime guarantee and free exchanges, a rare ethic in today’s world. Visit smithey.com.
