Acme Hospitality’s Santa Barbara Wine Collective and Loquita have announced two exceptional events with the award-winning chef and author Tony Tan. The first is a pop-up menu of Chef Tan’s specialties featured at Loquita on Monday, August 11, 2025. The next evening, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Santa Barbara Wine Collective will host the chef for an in-person dumpling demonstration followed by a multi-course dinner.
Tony Tan is an acclaimed chef, author, and educator celebrated for his deep knowledge of Asian cuisines and his refined, cross-cultural approach to cooking. Born in Malaysia and based in Australia, Tan has trained at prestigious culinary institutions including La Varenne in France and Leith’s in London. He is the author of the award-winning Hong Kong Food City, which won Best Asian Cookbook at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, and the 2024 release Tony Tan’s Asian Cooking Class, hailed as a definitive guide to regional Asian home cooking. He will be promoting the new book during the two special events at Loquita and Santa Barbara Wine Collective.
A longtime contributor to Australia’s food landscape, Tan has opened groundbreaking restaurants, led immersive culinary tours across Asia and Europe, and taught cooking classes to professional chefs and home cooks alike. He continues to inspire through his writing, media appearances, and teaching at his boutique cooking school in Trentham, Victoria.
