The Santa Barbara Filmmaker Series (SBIFF) occurs monthly in conjunction with Downtown Santa Barbara’s wonderful 1st Thursday celebration. During this series, which is free and open to the public, SBIFF opens the doors to its Film Center to showcase the work of a local filmmaker.
In addition to being a platform for new films and local talent, the Santa Barbara Filmmaker Series nurtures conversation and community. It is a rare treasure in the community.

We are eager to see the work of Rhys Zemeckis, a narrative short film (13 minutes) called NUNS WITH GUNS, showing April 2 at 5:30 pm, 6 pm, 6:30 pm and 7 pm, at the Film Center, 916 State Street.
]We bet it is very very good as Mr. Zemeckis comes from Hollywood filmmaking royalty (his Academy Award-winning Father directed many influential films among them Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, Romancing The Stone and Back to the Future).
His dazzling polymath Mother, Leslie Zemeckis, is statuesque woman of considerable consequence–author, book critic, filmmaker and actress. So dynamic is Mrs. Zemeckis physically and mentally, we are sure she was a highly revered Queen in a former life. What DNA this lucky young man has!
