Summer at The Grand Del Mar – California’s first triple Forbes Five-Star resort for its hotel, spa and restaurant, Addison – means roasting s’mores, learning how to surf, exciting days at the track, movie nights under the stars and much more, all in an idyllic coastal canyon setting in close proximity to the best that San Diego has to offer.

Highlights of the summer fun on tap at The Grand Del Mar this season include:

A Day at the Races Summer Racetrack Package: Available July 18 to September 3
The races in Del Mar are a summer tradition in San Diego, and what better place to unwind after a day at the track than The Grand Del Mar. Package includes one night’s accommodations; two stretch run reserved seats at Del Mar Racetrack (tickets are non-refundable); an issue of Racing Form and Racing Digest; transportation to and from the track (based on availability); two Mint Juleps in the Lobby Lounge upon return from the track; and overnight valet parking. Rates from $545 per night. Package is not valid for opening day and subject to availability at time of booking; blackout dates apply.

California Cruising: Available July 26 to August 23
Ever dreamt of cruising California’s scenic roads in a brand new Porsche? Now’s the time, thanks to a new partnership with Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Hotels and Porsche. Guests at The Grand Del Mar can rev up their engines and roll into summer in style, choosing from one of four luxury vehicles such as: the new Panamera S E-Hybrid, the 911 S Cabriolet or Cayenne GTS. The resort will provide a list of suggested two-hour drives – which traverse such scenic areas as Coronado, Rancho Santa Fe and La Jolla – each designed to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of the area, as well as the high performance and comfort of the vehicles. Complimentary for resort guests with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

A Special Summer Concert at The Grand: Sunday, August 31, 7 p.m.
Back by popular demand, Steve Tyrell, Texas-born and known as “America’s wedding singer,” will perform his signature interpretation of classic hits Sunday, August 31, at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $35 to $125.

The Grand Beach Service: Daily
Regular transportation to/from the beach, complete with umbrellas, chairs, towels and more. Complimentary for resort guests.

Roasting S’mores: Fridays and Saturdays in July and August from 8 to 10 p.m.
Families can indulge in an all-American pastime – roasting yummy, gooey s’mores at the Tennis Pavilion. Complimentary for resort guests.

Siesta Service Means Special Touches for Guests: Available daily in July and August from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Grand Del Mar afternoon Siesta Service offers the following:

• Early turndown service complete with relaxing background music

• Choice of pillow from the resort’s Pillow Menu

• Scented sleep mask

• Choice of afternoon beverage: gourmet coffee or tea at Cent’ Anni Café or seasonal cocktail in the Lobby Lounge

Art & Architecture Tours: Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

Summer Styling: Tuesdays at 2 p.m. (limited to six)
Teens can enjoy a makeover in time for summer: talented stylists from the resort’s Haim Salon will offer hair styling and make up application/consultation. Complimentary for teens who are resort guests.

Cowabunga! Surf Lessons: Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
This year, guest can plunge into the Pacific and learn to surf, with the resort’s weekly lessons. Beach transportation is complimentary and surf lessons are $85 for one person; $75 for two and $65 for three or more. Cost includes surfboard and wetsuit rental.

Sunrise Hikes: Fridays at 7 a.m.
Wake up to breathtaking views of the Pacific from the Carmel Mountain mesa on this two-mile hike in the adjacent nature preserve with the resort’s engaging naturalist. Complimentary for resort guests.

Glow Golf Driving Contests: Fridays at 8 p.m.
Guests of all ages can compete in an exciting glow-in-the-dark driving contest for golf prizes and bragging rights. Junior (13 and under) and adult divisions available. Complimentary for resort guests.

Build Your Dream Castle: Sundays at 9 a.m.
Guests can unleash their creativity to build an elaborate sand castle on property with the guidance of award-winning sand castle artist, Ray Karch. Complimentary for resort guests.
Family Movie Nights: Sundays at 8 p.m.
Families can cozy up on the tennis lawn for an entertaining evening under the stars, featuring fun films and tasty refreshments. Complimentary for resort guests, the family-friendly line-up includes movies such as Frozen, Monsters University, The Lego Movie and Despicable Me 2.

And For the Younger Set, Explorer’s Club: Daily
An interactive kids’ center offering fun, supervised programs including a host of marine and canyon related activities, will host:

• Regular magic shows by noted magician Josh London Fridays (7/4, 7/18, 8/1 and 8/15) at 4 p.m.

• Interactive animal visits provided by Wild Wonders of San Diego at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Participants, depending on the weekly schedule, will “meet” and learn about armadillos, giant tortoises, groundhogs, possums, boa constrictors, millipedes and more.
