The Amalfi Coast Meets The Pacific Coast at Shutters on the Beach, Santa Monica

We’ll be the first to admit it: Shutters on the Beach, the great hotel in Santa Monica has a passion for all things Mediterranean. Be it cuisine, style, or special events, they always love taking the opportunity to infuse their trademark California beach culture with a hint of Southern Europe’s classic charm. In their latest endeavor, however, they’ve taken this passion to a whole new level… quite literally bringing Italy to Santa Monica. Starting March 4, Shutters on the Beach welcomes one of the most famed hotels in all of Italy, Le Sirenuse—a luxurious summer palazzo in the Mediterranean village of Positano, owned and run by the noble Neapolitan family Marchese Sersale. Back for a second straight year, it’s a weeklong cultural celebration of two of the world’s most legendary coastlines: the Amalfi and the Pacific. Awaiting their beloved guests is an unparalleled pairing of California lifestyle and Italian tradition, from authentic cuisine to award-winning fashion. Here is a tasty preview of the week’s highlights:

Cuisine
If there’s ever a time to visit One Pico, this is surely it. Not only is Executive Chef Isaac Gamboa up to his usual tricks—offering a farm-to-table, a la carte menu of One Pico’s signature dishes—Shutters is also welcoming the Michelin-starred talents of Le Sirenuse’s Tuscan-born Executive Chef, Matteo Temperini. A product of Italian culinary tradition and world-class training—from chefs like Alain Duchasse and Alfonso Iaccarino—Chef Temperini is offering a four-course tasting menu like no other.
Starting the night off is an Antipasti lineup for every taste and preference, from stewed octopus to marinated amberjack to marinated beef carpaccio. Up next is a delectable Primi Piatti, ranging from Gragnano spaghetti to lemon-infused risotto with red shrimp carpaccio. The night then continues with a Secondo Piatti—with dishes like Maine lobster and Confit lamb shoulder—before finishing with Dolci desserts like Crunchy Guanaja Chocolate Cake and Pear with Vanilla.
No taste of Italy is complete without fine wines, so they’ll also have their very own beverage experts, Master Sommelier Peter Neptune and Beverage Director Tricia Carr, curate a menu of Amalfi-inspired spirits and wines from the region.
Fashion
