The Milestone Hotel is our favorite in London

After our overnight flight to London, we arrived midday at one of London’s most historic hotels, The Milestone, perfectly situated opposite Kensington Palace and tucked away on a beautifully tree lined street. Our host and General Manager, Andrew Pike, welcomed us with refreshments in the bright and airy Conservatory.

Our stay in the stunning Venetian Suite was impeccable and we never wanted to leave the calm beauty of this lovely signature suite. Newly designed, this one bedroom suite with separate sitting room is elegantly appointed in hues of pale blue grey color and soft wheat tones which continues throughout creating an ambiance that both soothes and captivates. A bespoke headboard from Italy with intricate zig zag pattern enhances the serenity of the room furnished with antique furniture curated from top auction houses. The huge pristine marble bath and shower room are with stocked with Penhaligon’s English soaps and toiletries.

Chenestons

We enjoyed champagne and nibbles in the handsome Park Lounge and continued with a sumptuous modern English dinner in Cheneston’s Restaurant which included a delicate Chestnut Soup and Chicken Pot Pie, accompanied by proprietary Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak Pinot Noir from South Africa and The Milestone Quartet of Desserts all brilliantly executed by Executive Head Chef Rob Creaser.

The hotel’s intrepid Head Concierge Jose Pauco triumphantly secured us tickets to sold-out “TINA,” the musical of the moment in London based on the life of Tina Turner. The usually reserved London crowd awarded the spectacular performance a massive standing ovation for the electric portrayal of Tina by Adrienne Warren and the incredible cast. Surely destined to American shores.

A short stroll to Kensington Palace afforded us with two special exhibits, the critically acclaimed “Diana: Her Fashion Story” which traces her style evolution during her tenure as Princess of Wales. Additionally, an exhibition on Queen Victoria, re-examining her fascination life, love of Albert and family, and cultural legacy still felt today.
