Food news around the world

NEW YORK

Majorelle at The Lowell

This March, Majorelle will open at The Lowell Hotel. Charles Masson, known from his days at La Grenouille and his love of flowers, has been the impresario behind the restaurant. Along with hotel owners and the General Manager, Heiko Kuenstle, Masson has worked with architect Mark Pinney and designer Michael S. Smith to realize his vision. He also orchestrated and coordinated the kitchen: one of a select few in New York with its own braisiere dedicated solely to preparing fine broths, sauces and soups, not to mention the ovens reserved only for soufflés.

LONDON

Jean-Georges Returns to London

This spring, The Connaught in London will welcome a new restaurant from Jean-Georges Vongerichten, marking the renowned chef’s return to the city. The yet-to-be-named project will be a relaxed, neighborhood restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, and the menu will reflect Vongerichten’s signature farm-to-table cooking style with some British twists.

NAPA VALLEY

Charter Oak

The team behind the Michelin-starred, Restaurant at Meadowood, will debut the casual spin off, The Charter Oak in early 2017. Meals will be served family-style and will feature produce from their two-acre farm.
