As the mercury rises and we begin to settle into summer, nothing welcomes warm weather better than a glass of wine, enjoyed on the patio with a delicious meal. Colangelo + Partners are offering three versatile wines for the outdoor weather, all at a great value:
- Start off the grill on the lighter side with grilled vegetables, paired with Arnaldo Caprai Grecante ($18). Made from 100% grechetto grapes, Grecante is a crisp and flavorful wine that’s full of minerality and has an exceptionally long finish and also is a great aperitif wine while you’re getting the grill fired up.
- A versatile wine for any course on your grill, try Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé ($12) with traditional South African “Boerewors“, a sausage typically grilled over a charcoal fire and served with a fruit-based chutney on a roll. Made from 100% cabernet sauvignon, this wine is a bit bigger than your typical rosé so it can stand up to heavier, meat-based dishes, yet still maintains the refreshing qualities that a rosé should possess.
- You should probably go ahead and order a case of Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni ($20-23), because it’s going to become your new go-to steak and burger wine. Tuscany is the master of bistecca alla Fiorentina, and this bold Super Tuscan blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot goes beautifully with the simply prepared T-bone steak.
