Heroic Red is already receiving prestigious honors. Heroic Red received the “Double Gold” honor in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The competition, hailed as the largest competition of American wines in the world, received over 7,000 entries from 28 states this year. Heroic Red was one of only five red wines that scored Double Gold in the “All Red Blends: $20.00 – $24.99” category. Heroic Red, distributed by Leer Vineyards in Bryon, CA, is unique in that a portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold benefits a wounded warrior through a partnership with homes4woundedheroes and homes4goldstars that provide mortgage and tax free homes to combat heroes.
“I’m so incredibly proud of this honor,” says Stefan Leer, Owner Leer Vineyards/Heroic Red. “The best winemakers in the country submit their wines to this competition so being in that company and having our wine receive Double Gold honors really validates how we’ve felt about this wine all along.”
The competition features a panel of judges, including sixty professionals from all areas of the wine industry including media experts, restaurant and hospitality, education, winemaking and retail outlets, that blind taste the wines. Judging begins with all wines in that category and is narrowed down to “Double Gold.” The wines are then narrowed down as Sweepstake Winners.
