Gourmet is on the Menu at Pristine Sunset Marquis

The Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood is our favorite hotel due to its gentlemanly general manager, Rod Gruendyke who sees and attends to all details with perfection, a fine, attentive staff, top cuisine, first rate spa, and general electric atmosphere. The hotel has always enjoyed a reputation as a playground and work place for rock stars. Indeed, located directly beneath the hotel is Nightbird Recording Studios, a state-of-the-art recording facility.

Since we are not rock stars, we highly recommend you stay here because of their strong committment to safety and cleanliness. In these days of pandemic fears, you will have nothing to worry about at the Sunset Marquis. There is seamless contact-less check-in here and all guests are temperature vetted with thermal scanning. We found the air sterile thoughout, the hallways fresh with circulating air, the rooms and the restaurant clean as a polished piece of fine crystal. And, indeed, they work on it 24-7, only booking a small percentage of their delightful rooms and not booking back to back guests so a deep clean can take place each and every time a guest leaves. The enhanced maid service is flawless. The whole hotel is more pristine than a hospital and a heck of a lot lot more fun and glamorous. If peace of mind is what you’re after in a hotel stay, the Sunset Marquis is for you.

Gourmet is on the menu this Fall at with some delectable new dishes from the very talented Executive Chef Luis Morales. We recently tasted his innovative and flavorful tender charred octopus with chickpea puree, fresno chiles, olives and parsely. What followed wowed us: a heavenly prepared sea bass in olive oil, sea salt, preserved lemon and pearl onions that sang with lush Mediterranean flavors. Chef Morales is highly creative so while you can dine here on classic steak tartare, cheeseburgers and chicken paillard, his more inventive dishes like salmon crudo in vodka and apple cure with stone fruit, beet jus and sea beans or his slow-cooked ocean trrout with local corn, shimeji mushrooms and pearl onions are worth a major detour. And the plate presentations are very artful.

Dine al fresco at Cavatina’s restaurant patio, or enjoy freshly prepared meals while relaxing on the balcony or terrace of your personal Villa or Suite. The hotel also has private (and romantic) dining spaces throughout the property available. In case you hadn’t heard, the Sunset Marquis wine list is one of the largest in the area and features some of the finest, rarest, and most unique varietals you’ll find outside of private collections.

The hotel offers some excellent packages and it’s a great time to visit and enjoy poolside days and cool crisp evenings, with simply amazing deals on room packages for both Suites and Villas. Navigate on over to the Sunset Marquis Packages page to find the perfect stay for your getaway. Besides two glistening pools, a lively bar, breathtaking gardens, first class alfresco restaurant, and spacious tropical jungle grounds of Sunset Marquis, you will not encounter a friendlier staff anywhere. 1200 Alta Loma Rd, West Hollywood, CA 90069, (310) 657-1333. http://www.sunsetmarquis.com
